Helicopter Spraying Wetlands

We chartered a helicopter to spray the McFadden Nature Center wetlands to remove invasive plants. Spraying herbicide will help control the Giant Cutgrass (Zizaniopsis miliacea) that chokes out wetland wildlife. Birds, fish, and alligators are among many of those that benefit when the waters are opened up for a healthier habitat. Ducks get runways. Fish have room to grow. Expelling cutgrass also helps water control devices work more efficiently by not getting clogged. By reducing invasive plants, we can more easily support the vast forms of water life that thrive in our wetlands.
