A Natural Legacy
The McFadden Nature Center in Donalsonville, Georgia, is a tribute to the vision of Larry “Pat” McFadden, whose passion for conservation and community inspired the creation of this serene natural space.
The project, which originated as the Lokchasassa Wilderness Project, is dedicated to preserving the McFadden property for future generations.

Cultivating a Place to Grow
Pat’s life was defined by curiosity, adventure, and a love for the outdoors.
McFadden’s journey took him across various roles—sign maker, airplane repairman, pilot, artist, and marksman. While he was known for his domestic pursuits, such as turkey hunting, he also gained international recognition for his expeditions in Africa, a place that held a special place in his heart. His deep respect for nature extended to wildlife preservation, inspiring initiatives that now define the McFadden Nature Center.
